After the pandemic squashed the live music industry, Oregon to Los Angeles transplant Rickey Havern put aside the straightforward guitar rock of previous outlet Gonzo and set forth on a quest of introspection soundtracked by retro synthesizers and lo-fi drum samples. Thus, The Junes were born. With the release of the debut EP, When the Lights Come On, Havern explored the feelings of isolation and surreality that were omnipresent during the mandated lockdown. Yet, in a twist of a fate, the world did not end, and once again sounded the call for his music to be performed live. Together with guitarist Henry Mensing, keyboardist David Gallo, bassist John McQueeney, and drummer Mikel James, The Junes solidified into an eclectic outfit that dances between analog and electronic, melancholy and joyous, anthemic and intimate.
